SJL Engineering Inc. is an employee owned, Canadian corporation providing professional services in the field of coastal engineering and shoreline hazard mitigation in Canada.

Based in Ottawa, Ontario, SJL Engineering Inc. strives to provide cost effective solutions for clients in both the private and public sectors.  Independently and through strategic partnerships, SJL Engineering Inc. serves clients throughout the Great Lakes and beyond.  Services offered include the design and rehabilitation of coastal structures, shoreline stabilization and erosion protection, coastal processes studies including waves, hydrodynamics and sediment transport, shoreline hazard assessments, regulatory coordination, construction oversight, aerial photography and project management.

SJL Engineering Inc. is a registered corporation in the Province of Ontario and a Certificate of Authorization holder from Professional Engineers Ontario.

Seth Logan, M.A.Sc., P.Eng.
President | Coastal Engineer

Seth Logan has a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from Queen's University, a Masters Degree in Coastal Engineering from the University of Ottawa, and a Professional Engineering License in the Province of Ontario.  Throughout his career Seth has worked on a wide variety of projects for clients in Canada and around the world.  His skill set includes engineering analyses of environmental conditions, the design, assessment and rehabilitation of coastal structures, port, harbour and marina design and optimization, coastal zone management, coastal processes modelling, a strong understanding of sediment transport and coastal morphology, shoreline stabilization and erosion protection, physical modelling, aerial photography, construction oversight and project management.  Seth also has a great deal of experience with project permitting and regulatory coordination in Ontario, through working with local Conservation Authorities, the Ministry of Natural Resources and other regulatory bodies.

 

Seth has authored several papers and been a presenter at multiple conferences including the 2011 Canadian Hydrotechnical Conference, the 2012 International Conference on Coastal Engineering, and both the 2016 and 2018 International Conferences on the Application of Physical Modelling in Coastal and Port Engineering and Science.
